Dear Joe,
One possible way to enforce a similar behaviour is by employing
CP2K_INPUT <https://manual.cp2k.org/cp2k-8_2-branch/CP2K_INPUT.html> /
FORCE_EVAL
<https://manual.cp2k.org/cp2k-8_2-branch/CP2K_INPUT/FORCE_EVAL.html> /
EXTERNAL_POTENTIAL
<https://manual.cp2k.org/cp2k-8_2-branch/CP2K_INPUT/FORCE_EVAL/EXTERNAL_POTENTIAL.html>
with a function of the type
1-(1-(y/y0)**n)/(1-(y/y0)**m)
with n<m and both even numbers
regards
Marcella
