Problem in compiling CP2K 4.01 with LIBXC

So I do not know and cannot understand the reason  but the problem was the 
presence of !> in the src/xc/xc_libxc_wrap.F file.

I removed > leaving only ! and magically I had cp2k compiled also with 
libxc. 

Now I am honestly curious of understanding why since ! should be a comment, 
shouldn't it? 
I know when compiling with openmp it reads !$, is this similar? 

If anyone know I am really happy to learn and understand :-)
